Requirement for Generative AI Declaration for Manuscripts Submitted from August 13, 2026

Effective August 13, 2026, the Jurnal Literasi Pendidikan Fisika (JLPF) requires authors to disclose the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of manuscripts. This policy is intended to promote transparency, research integrity, responsible use of emerging technologies, and accountability in scholarly publishing.

Manuscripts submitted to JLPF that involve the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies must comply with the disclosure requirements described below.

Definition of Generative AI

Generative AI refers to artificial intelligence systems capable of generating or substantially transforming content, including text, images, audio, video, computer code, or synthetic data. Examples include large language models (LLMs), AI-based writing assistants, image-generation systems, and other technologies that generate or modify content based on user instructions.

The use of generative AI in scholarly publishing requires transparency because such technologies may affect authorship, originality, accuracy, attribution, research integrity, and the reproducibility of scholarly work.

Disclosure Requirement

Authors must disclose the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies when such technologies have been used in the preparation of a manuscript.

The declaration is required when AI tools are used to:

• generate or substantially rewrite manuscript text;
• develop or substantially modify sections of the manuscript;
• generate, modify, or interpret figures, images, tables, or other research content;
• generate or modify computer code used in the research;
• assist in data analysis or interpretation; or
• perform other substantive tasks that contribute to the content of the manuscript.

The routine use of basic tools for spelling correction, grammar checking, formatting, reference management, or similar editorial assistance does not require a declaration, provided that these tools do not generate or substantially alter the intellectual content of the manuscript.

If no generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in the preparation of the manuscript, authors are not required to include an AI declaration.

Required Declaration

When disclosure is required, authors must include a statement in the manuscript immediately before the References section under the heading:

The statement should identify the AI tool or service used and briefly describe its purpose. Authors remain fully responsible for the content, accuracy, originality, and integrity of their manuscript, including any content produced or modified with the assistance of AI.

Authors may use the following format:

Author Responsibility

Generative AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript. Authors retain full responsibility for the manuscript and must ensure that all AI-assisted content is critically evaluated, appropriately revised, and consistent with accepted standards of academic and research integrity.

Authors are also responsible for verifying the accuracy of information, citations, references, data, and interpretations produced or suggested by AI tools. AI-generated content must not be used as a substitute for the authors' scholarly judgment or responsibility.

Authors should not enter confidential, personal, unpublished, or otherwise sensitive research information into generative AI systems when doing so could compromise confidentiality, privacy, intellectual property, or research participants' rights.

Editorial and Peer-Review Process

Disclosure of generative AI use does not, by itself, constitute grounds for rejection. The editorial team may assess the nature and extent of AI use to ensure that the manuscript complies with JLPF's standards of authorship, originality, research integrity, and scholarly responsibility.

Undisclosed substantive use of generative AI may be considered a violation of the journal's publication ethics and may result in editorial action in accordance with applicable journal policies.

The editorial team and peer reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality and should not upload unpublished manuscripts, peer-review materials, or other confidential content to generative AI systems or external AI services.
