Journal History
The Borneo Physical Education Journal (BPEJ) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal published by the Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Mulawarman, Indonesia.
Established in 2020, BPEJ was founded to provide a high-quality scholarly platform for researchers, academics, practitioners, and policymakers to disseminate original research and scientific developments in the fields of Physical Education, Sport Science, Exercise, Physical Activity, Coaching, Sports Education, and Health.
Since its inception, the journal has continuously improved its editorial quality, publication management, and international visibility. BPEJ is committed to implementing best practices in scholarly publishing by adopting internationally recognized editorial standards, a rigorous double-blind peer review process, and ethical publishing principles.
The journal is published twice a year and accepts original research articles, review articles, and other scholarly works that contribute significantly to the advancement of knowledge in sport and physical education.
As part of its continuous quality improvement, BPEJ has implemented several strategic developments, including:
- Establishing an online manuscript submission and editorial management system using the Open Journal Systems (OJS).
- Implementing a rigorous double-blind peer review process.
- Adopting international publication ethics based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) principles.
- Providing immediate Open Access to all published articles.
- Improving article formatting and editorial quality through updated journal templates and author guidelines.
- Expanding the editorial board and reviewer network by involving experts from national and international institutions.
- Increasing journal visibility through indexing in national and international databases.
Today, the Borneo Physical Education Journal (BPEJ) continues its commitment to becoming a reputable international scientific journal by publishing high-quality, innovative, and impactful research that contributes to the advancement of physical education, sport science, exercise, and health worldwide.
