Pemanfaatan karbon aktif dari kulit singkong (Manihot utilissila) sebagai adsorben zat pewarna tekstil methylene blue

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan massa, waktu dan konsentrasi optimum kulit singkong yang dapat menyerap warna metilen biru. Kulit singkong mengandung unsur karbon yang cukup tinggi sebesar 59,31% sehingga dapat dijadikan sebagai karbon aktif dengan metode adsorpsi menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Kulit singkong diubah menjadi karbon aktif dengan NaOH 0,1 N sebagai aktivator. Kemudian menentukan massa, waktu dan konsentrasi optimum berdasarkan persentase penyerapan larutan zat warna metilen biru tertinggi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam variasi massa 0,5; 0,25 dan 0,125 gram didapatkan persentase berturut-turut sebesar 98,98%; 98,65% dan 96,58%, variasi waktu 5; 10; 15; 30; 60; 120 menit dan 240 menit didapatkan persentase sebesar 87,89%; 90,65%; 91,21%; 92,28%; 97,96%; 98,51% dan 98,76%, dan variasi konsentasi 25; 50; 75; 125 dan 150 ppm didapatkan persentase berturut-turut sebesar 97,41%; 98,43%; 98,42%; 79,01%; dan 70,33%. Dapat disimpulkan persentase penyerapan tertinggi larutan zat warna metilen biru yaitu pada massa 0,5 gram selama 240 menit konsentrasi larutan zat warna metilen biru 50-75 ppm.
